This is a Coventry Climax Auto Engine that has been fully rebuilt and is ready to install into a car. It is for sale and comes complete with all ancillaries, ie carbs, manifolding, flywheel,clutch, dynamo etc.
It is shown here on a test bed where it has been run up to check all is well and set the ignition and carburettors.
These engines were fitted to many small competition cars during the 1950s and early 60s and became 'the engine to have' in your sports car if you were serious about driving. The cars to which they were commonly fitted were.

Also with some modifications to the sump, they can be fitted to a Triumph Herald.
The engine backplate supplied will mate directly to a Sprite, Midget or Morris Minor gearbox

The specification for the engine is as follows
Mint crankshaft on standard journals - balanced.
Matched stress relieved con rods balanced to within 1 gram. Uprated big end bolts.
Mint pistons balanced to within 1 gram with new rings.
Honed liners.
New bearings.
Competition gas flowed head with special 'figure of 8' shaped chambers, new lead free inserts, recut seats.
Big lightweight valves using 7mm stems.
Competition valve springs.
New stage 2 camshaft (270degree with9.2mm lift)
Refaced cam followers.
Uprated oil pump
New internal oil lines and filter pick up
New exit oil point
New engine back plate.
New rear seal carrier.
New rear and front seals.
New flywheel. Balanced
New ringgear. Balanced
New clutch cover. Balanced
New clutch plate.
New clutch release bearing
New bottom pulley.
Rebuilt water pump.
New dynamo brackets and belt tensioner. New belt.
Refurbished inlet manifold for twin SU carbs.
Rebuilt carbs with new spindle bushed, needles etc.
New period air filters.
Remanufactured 4 into 1 exhaust manifold.
Fully rebuilt vacuumless distributor with mint bearing.
Cooper S points, new condenser, new cap, new leads, new plug caps, new plugs.
Remanufactured dynamo.
Starter motor.
Mainly new nuts and bolts throughout.
The engine has been built as an FWA unit which runs a remote oil filter and cooler. These are not supplied
Oil pressure is 50psi on tickover rising to 60 to 65psi with revs.
